Why expert handicappers and beginners love Pace Pals

I'm taking a break from wrapping. Sheesh, Christmas is just work when you have no little kids at home anymore. Back then, it was all nothing but a pleasure.

I posted way back that our program one day had something called "Pace Pals." It only happened on one weekend day but now my husband said they have them for each race on the Hollywood Park web site. I know most people can spot the running style of any horse but when you are trying to help new people get into racing, it's a good help for them.

I told a friend who is new to racing and she and her husband used it last weekend and they both "get it" now. And it helps the "teacher" a lot too. Much easier to help them see how to handicap. Any small help is good when you are trying to teach younger people to handicap.

Pace Pals joins Todays Racing Digest to offer FREE Official 4x9
track programs with Pace Pals handicapping icons
June 24, 25, 26
Horse handicapping press release

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (June 15, 2011)—Today’s Racing Digest will offer FREE 4x9 track programs with Pace Pals handicapping icons for all major thoroughbred and quarter horse tracks for three days this
weekend, June 24, June 25 and June 26.

This introductory offer will be available on the Digest website,
www.todaysracingdigest.com, starting Wednesday, as race track’s weekend programs become final. Pace Pals user friendly handicapping icons make it easy for novice and veteran handicappers to identify which horses like to be on the lead (RABBITS) or come from behind (TURTLES).

The popular cartoon icons, RABBIT for frontrunners, FOXES for pace pressers – horses in the leading 1/3 of the field, HOUNDS mid-pack runners and TURTLES for late runners have shown an approval rating of over 75% in surveys with newcomers and regular race goers since their introduction at Hollywood Park in the Fall of 2004.

Pace Pals programs are produced with software from In Compass Solutions and also include a speed rating and historical legend of which run styles have been successful at each distance and surface. In-Compass is the leading software provider for race office and program production in North America.

Today’s Racing Digest has been a leader in providing information on thoroughbred racing since 1970.

Thank you! Our Fairplex Sponsor, 2008 Breeders' Cup

Friday October 24 & Saturday October 25 at Santa Anita Park

Breeders CupSince the inaugural running at Hollywood Park 24 years ago, the Breeders' Cup has established itself as the season-ending championship of Thoroughbred racing. It is now firmly entrenched in American racing lore with a history and tradition all its own. The Breeders' Cup World Championships has also served as a deciding factor in Eclipse Award voting. The Eclipse Awards, which honor Horse of the Year and other champions in the sport, are voted on annually by representatives of Daily Racing Form, the National Turf Writers Association and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association. In 2006, we witnessed every Eclipse Award winner (including Steeplechase Champion McDynamo) participate in the Breeders' Cup, something not ever achieved previously.
